Fin 2007, les travaux et les actions de l'association négaWatt ont été récompensés par le PRIX EUROSOLAR pour son "rôle modèle pour une nouvelle politique énergétique en France."
Cette récompense a été remise lors d'une cérémonie à Berlln par Hermann Scheer, président d'Eurosolar et lauréat du Prix Nobel Alternatif.
L'appréciation du jury était la suivante :
"In a country with nineteen nuclear power plants equipped with a total of fifty-eight nuclear reactors and a policy of ‘ever more’ energy, the French association négaWatt attracts extra attention. With “néga”, the name alone underscores the association’s mission: “nega” is the opposite of “mega” and thus the opposite of a gigantic and centralised energy policy.
The organisation, founded by energy specialists with corporate headquarters in the Southern French town of Mèze in the year 2001, already has 200 active members today. A small committee, calling itself ‘la Compagnie des négaWatts’ forms the innermost core. This committee scientifically analyzes energy questions and has, among other things, developed the “Scénario négaWatt”. This study illustrates how, by means of energy efficiency, energy conservation and utilization of renewable energy, France could manage entirely without nuclear energy in the year 2050.
In the run-up to the environment summit 'Grenelle de l'Environnement', held by the French government only recently, négaWatt representatives participated for several months in the stakeholder forum. This underlines the increasing importance of the association, which is winning more and more listeners. négaWatt thus helps the ‘Grande Nation’ to step-by-step develop a different, modern ‘Grande Idée’ of energy."
